A STUDY TO EVALUATE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF VIDEO ASSISSTED TEACHING MODULE ON KNOWLEDGE REGARDING CORONARY ARTERY BYPASS GRAFTING SURGERY AND PHASES OF CARDIAC REHABILITATION AMONG THE B.SC. NURSING 1ST YEAR STUDENTS AT SELECTED COLLEGES IN KANPUR, UTTAR PRADESH

Abstract

In a coronary artery bypass transplant, a blood vessel from another part of the body is taken and attached to the coronary artery above and below the blocked or narrowed area. The present research study was conducted in Yashraj College of Nursing, Kanpur. Quasi Experimental One group pretest-post-test research design was adopted. The sample were selected by using Non Probability convenient sampling technique. The sample size was 60 student of B.Sc. nursing 1st year. The data was collected by using self-structured knowledge questionnaire.A total of 60 student of B.Sc. nursing 1st year were selected. According to their age group, (13% )student age group of (17-19year) , (65% ) student (20-22years) of age, (22%) students (23-25year)of age, (0%) students (26 and above year) of age. According to their Gender, (33%) were male and (67%) were female. According to their family history, about (17%) had history of CABG and (83%) had no history of CABG. According to their religion, about (92%) were Hindus, (6%) were from Muslims, (2%) were Christians,(0.00%) were others. According to previous knowledge, about (34%) was no and (66%) had knowledge regarding CABG and phases of cardiac rehabilitation. According to source of knowledge, majority (47%) was from teachers, (17%) was from mass media, (33%) was from health personnel and (3%) was from parents. Overall majority of (23%) had moderate knowledge, (77%) have inadequate knowledge and (0%) had adequate knowledge in pre- test. Overall majority of (66%) had adequate knowledge, (26%) had moderate knowledge and (7%) had inadequate knowledge in post-test. The pretest Score was (9.1) and posttest score was (19.91) suggesting that the video assisted teaching module was effective in increasing the knowledge of students of B.Sc. nursing 1st year.
